Dave – Service Manager
Meet Dave, our Service Manager.
If there’s one thing Dave knows inside out, it’s cars. Brought up around motoring by his Dad, Dave’s journey into the trade started early, beginning his career at just 16 with an apprenticeship and working his way up to becoming fully qualified.
He gained hands on experience at a small independent Renault dealership and from there, Dave moved into a hire company, maintaining a large and varied fleet including Minis, tractor units and commercial vehicles, building a rock-solid understanding of high-volume maintenance and reliability.
Dave’s career then progressed through a Vauxhall main dealership, where he became Workshop Foreman before moving into the Bodyshop, expanding his expertise beyond mechanical work. His next chapter saw him join the AA, taking on the role of Service Manager, acting as stand-in Regional Manager, and even working on-road as a patrolman, giving him a unique, all-round perspective of the industry.
Further senior roles followed with Ford and Mercedes, before Dave became a Senior ATA-accredited Strip & Refit Technician with Direct Line. He then moved to Malton, working at a highly regarded classic car sales and restoration business, where he served as Service Director, overseeing the Service department, Bodyshop and Trim teams.
Dave has also spent his free time rebuilding a stunning classic Triumph Spitfire from scratch, emphasising his long standing interest and admiration for classic cars.
Today, Dave brings all of that experience to The Motorist as Service Manager, leading the garage with a knowledgeable and detail-driven approach.
